The river outfitter we are using is the Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC). We will meet at the Nolichucky Gorge Campground at 1:00pm on Saturday. NOT AT THE OUTPOST Look for the tents. See Driving Directions in the separate attachment.

The campground is located right on the river. There are tents already set up on platforms with 4 mattresses per tent. On Saturday night we will eat dinner at the campground bunkhouse. Back at the campsite we will have a bonfire, roast marshmallows and make s’mores. We can sing if you bring an instrument and want to sing!

The $105. includes: Saturday lunch when you arrive; Saturday dinner; Saturday night camping; Sunday breakfast; drinks and snacks; rafting and gear (the more adventuresome may wish to try “duckies” (inflatable kayaks); and Sunday lunch on the river.

The river trip will last about 5 to 6 hours, depending on how fast the water is and how well we do to stay in our rafts or duckies. The rapids are class III and IV. If the water is very cold, we will have wet suits and paddle jackets to keep us warm.

You will need to bring: Sleeping bag, pillow, change of clothes for after the river trip, towel, strap for glasses, old lace up tennis shoes or water shoes, flashlight. Do NOT wear any jewelry.
