Tips on finding a post-secondary institution

Fulfilling your Educational Requirement

Here you will find some suggestions of post-secondary educational institutions to complete your educational requirement (6 credit hours) during your year in the greater Greenville area.

The best way to go to get the most classes for your buck (and spend even less than the $500.00 maximum your host family covers for this part of the program) is Continuing Education – there are evening and daytime classes, so check with your family what will work out best with their schedule!

With about 2 credit hours per class, you should be able to do 3 classes during your year. Start on your first one soon so that you don’t feel rush at the end of your stay to finish up classes.

Greenville Tech has a large diversity of continued education classes, from CPR certifications (that may be a great option if it has been a while since you have done yours) to foreign languages, from computer classes to English writing.

Go to http://www.gtbmc.com  and either download the catalog to look through it, request one to be sent in the mail or create a username and password to access all the class details and register on-line.

Here is the credit hours information; I would check upon registration how many this class would actually give you: A CEU is a nationally recognized unit of credit for recording satisfactory completion of a continuing Education course (with the exception of Community Interest classes). One CEU represents 10 class hours of instruction.

So for this ESL class, you would be taking a total of 16 hours, thus 1.6 CEUs.
